This detention tank was constructed for Seymour Civil Engineering on a flood relief scheme for Northumbrian Water.
Donegan Civil Engineering were appointed to construct a 25.00m Internal diameter shaft which would provide an additional 2,500m3 / 2.5 million litres of foul water storage capacity.
The 25.00m internal diameter segmental shaft was underpinned to a depth of approx 7m in soft clays.
Once excavation had reached formation level and all the rings had been built grouted and caulked a mass concrete blinding was placed.
After steel reinforcement was installed for the structural concrete base slab, with starter bars protruding for the 4 no. concrete support columns for the precast concrete cover slab.
